Correctly labeled as eclectic, Steins;Gate certainly begins on a random note. The main character, Okabe Rintarou, is introduced at the Radio building, where the mystery begins. He meets woman named Kurisu Makise who claims to have met him 15 minutes prior to their present conversation but Okabe, also nicknamed Okarin, denies this. Shortly afterwards Okarin discovers that Kurisu has been stabbed to death and a satellite has crashed into the building.
I do not want to give away too much of the plot because the story is very appealing. Okarin considers himself a “mad scientist” but I think he is more eccentric than “mad”. He founded an inventors’ group, The Lab, where he, his childhood friend Shiina Mayuri, and the master hacker, Hashida Itaru, invent gadgets for the future. Even though Okarin comes off as an overachiever he does not seem to accomplish anything and constantly mentions the “Organization” that is out to get him. Mayuri is more like an oblivious child and Hashida is simply lazy making this team stranger than it already is. Do not get me wrong though, this is in fact a great start for, what it seems to be, an intellectual series.
The plot is confusing at the beginning, especially when it seems like the episode simply ends on the ten minute mark, but do not be alarmed, the resolution brings more questions that leaves more to be desired. While the animation did not make an impression, the color tones for the whole episode makes for an excellent eerie ambiance. Time travel and its related alterations is a pivotal plot point, so I assume that we should prepare for a lot of “future confusion”. Get it?

Summary: Founder of an inventors group in Akihabara, the Future Gadget Lab (AKA The Lab), Okabe Rintarou, goes with another member of the group, his childhood friend Shiina Mayuri to a press conference held by Doctor Nakabachi at the Radio building. Okabe objects to the doctor's theories of time travel, but a girl appears and drags him away...
